OT Peads Meeting Mon. April 30 - Developmental Optometrist Dr. Charles Boulet

OT Peads Meeting Mon. April 30 - Developmental Optometrist Dr. Charles Boulet

Location: GRIT
Time: 7:30

Topic: Dr. Charles Boulet works out of Black Diamond area and is a 'developmental optometrist', but has a particular take on it given that his background is initially in neuropsych and education.
He does full visual rehabilitation, but he also includes many other elements necessary for building success in schools, elements such as self-awareness and self-control, mental focus,
varied gross and fine motor skill activities, as well as numerous cognitive skills. Charles finds OTs much more realistic about the impact of visual dysfunction vis-a-vis reading and he would like to engage in related conversations.
He will be bringing some activities and resources to share.  You can check out more information at www.LearningManagement.ca or http://archieslaw.com/

If you know in advance that you are able to come, please RSVP by commenting on this post, as Charles would like to know approximate numbers.

Thanks,

Carol

OT Needed for Airdrie and Area

I will be moving out of the Airdrie area and am trying to help some families I work with find another OT to continue services:

A family in Acme, Alberta (40 minutes NE of Airdrie) is looking for an OT to provide services for their 7 y.o. daughter (she has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and ASD).  She has a contract through FSCD with minimal OT hours (2 hours/month) to assist with toilet training.  She has an aide who works with her two sesions per week after school.  She also receives psychology support.  FSCD provides additional funding for travel outside of city limits.

A mother in Airdrie is looking for an OT to provide services for her 5 y.o. son (with ASD).  He has a contract through FSCD for 4 hours per month (targeting sensory processing, picky eating, and self-care skills).  The child attends half day kindergarten in the afternoons.  He has an aide who works with him once per week in the morning.  He also receives psychology support.

A family in Airdire is looking for an OT to provide private services to her 6 y.o. son with severe fine and gross motor delays. Intervention has focused on functional fine motor skills.  He attends full day kindergarten 5 days per week in Calgary.  The family is interested in 2-4 sessions per month.

If you are interested, please contact Melinda Oakman at melindaoakmanot@gmail.com.  Thankyou.

Presenter for Sensory Talk to Foster Parents

Hi

I'm a Red Deer foster parent helping organize our June 8-10 Spring Retreat. I think it would be beneficial for foster parents to learn about sensory issues. Can you recommend anyone who might be available to work a weekend and travel to a rural location (we're hosting it at a lodge/campground 1 hour south/west of Red Deer).

ANY help would be very appreciated. Thank you.
